GreenUrban and Krone launch energy-saving, self-cleaning filter product

GreenUrban Technologies and Krone are launching an innovative self-cleaning and energy-saving filtration product at the IWEX event for the water and wastewater industry in May.

The KAF Bernoulli filter is manufactured by German company Krone Filtertechnik and is being distributed in the UK by GreenUrban. The unit incorporates fully automatic self-cleaning filter technology that can be energised either electrically or by compressed air, eliminating the need for routine filter cleaning maintenance.

The filter housing can be manufactured in steel/rubberised steel, stainless steel, bronze, Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester, PVDF, PE or other special materials.

Units can be supplied to suit a wide range of flow requirements from 8m3/hour to 50,000m3/hour, enabling particle filtration sizes of 0.1mm - 1mm with wedged wire or 1-10mm with perforated plate. The technology minimises energy losses due to an extremely efficient low pressure drop design.

"The product is a first for the UK market," says GreenUrban director Alex Mullen. "The KAF filter provides a much more effective solution than more traditional basket filters, which require costly regular maintenance. It is also much more energy and cost efficient than other alternatives such as back flush and changeover filters."

KAF filters are suitable for a wide range of applications including the water and waste, oil and gas, industrial, civil engineering, heavy plant, food and chemical sectors. The KAF system has recently been subjected to trials by Scottish and Southern Energy.

GreenUrban will be exclusively responsible for sales and marketing of the KAF range in the UK.
