Hygienic floor soap could reduce risk of slipping
Bio-Solutions Manufacturing (BSLM), from Hattiesburg, Mississippi in the US, has received the National Sanitation Foundation registration for its new Bio-Care hygienic floor soap to be used in and around food processing areas.
The hygienic floor soap is the first of a series of new surface and all-purpose cleaning products to be announced in the near future. According to Dr Krish Reddy, the president and CEO of BSLM, the Hygienic Floor Soap's unique ability to dry in less than three minutes helps reduce the risk of slip-and-fall injuries. According to the National Floor Safety Institute, each year, more than 3 million foodservice employees and 1 million guests are injured as a result of such accidents. It is estimated that the foodservice industry spends more than $2bn each year for such injuries and is rising by 10% every year. The most likely cause of foodservice slips and falls is a wet floor. Approximately 60% of BSLM's market base consists of commercial cooking establishments, such as restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals and supermarkets. Also according to Dr. Reddy, the product does not contain phosphates and toxic chemicals, which are detrimental to the environment, nor does it contain caustic soda, which takes wax off hard floors. The oxygen generated from the product helps to kill the anaerobic pathogenic bacteria of the floor, and imparts freshness to the air.
