Mettler involved in Howorth Pharma contract
Mettler Toledo Industrial Division, Leicester, UK-based weighing equipment specialists, have provided the weighing capability that is an integral part of a US$5 million contract for glovebox isolators recently secured by Howorth Pharma, of Bolton, UK.
The contract for a total of 29 glovebox isolators was awarded to Howorth Pharma after the company successfully demonstrated that it could provide unique retrofit containment solutions to a number of complex existing pharmaceutical machines, in an environment where wet granulation, tray drying, fluid bed drying, milling, capsule coating, tablet pressing and coating take place. Howorth Pharma's client name and plant location remain confidential.
A Mettler customer for almost 20 years, Howorth Pharma required a precise weighing solution with an emphasis on accuracy and hygiene, that would also operate reliability in a negative pressure atmosphere with considerable air movement, and withstand spray-down cleaning to IP66.
Mettler provided six Modulo Automated Precision Weighing Sensors, linked to one of the company's Zone 2 / Zone 22 compliant IND690 terminals, offering split-second precision weighing in the milligram range in the harshest of industrial environments, the company says.
The IND690 terminal provides IP69K-rated protection, a Big Weight display, simple integration into a majority of applications and a range of software for high performance capabilities.
A ProfibusDP-690 card enables the IND690 to be operated as a slave in Profibus-DP.
