MicronAir filters fight the automotive sneezes

Increased levels of pollen in the air at this time of year, along with the millions of tiny particles and pollutants that float around every day, result in increased asthma attacks, itchy eyes and sneezing for many people.

Leading US producer of automotive cabin air filters Freudenberg Nonwovens' Filtration Division can offer car drivers a respite from these conditions with its micronAir line. The cabin air filters help to reduce contamination levels within a vehicle's interior, increasing passengers' protection from harmful particulates and filtering out contaminants which can trigger allergies. "The reduction of contaminants and gases entering the vehicle interior is essential to maintain the health and safety of passengers," said Willie Yung, general manager, micronAir filtration. "Studies show that pollutants inside the vehicle can be up to 10 times more concentrated than outside." Several types of cabin air filters are available, including: • particulate filters, which reduce pollen, abraded material, road dust, soot and industrial dust that pollute a vehicle's air intake system; • combination filters, which feature an additional layer of activated carbon; • automotive engine intake air filters made with synthetic nonwoven media, which are said to offer OEMs smaller envelopes.
