Milliken agent offers efficacy and durability

A polyester yarn that is both flame retardant and antimicrobial has been introduced by Sinterama. GUARDyarn contains Alpha- San, a silver-based antimicrobial agent from Milliken, which inhibits the growth of micro-organisms that can cause odour and fabric deterioration.

The yarn, which was created for applications in the furnishings market and for work apparel, also offers a high level of fire resistance. AlphaSan uses advanced silver-based technology to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mildew, mould and other micro-organisms that can cause odours, discoloration and deterioration of various consumer and commercial products. It is used in commercial applications, primarily food and beverage processing and commercial icemaking equipment.
