Mitie Engineering launches science projects division
MITIE Engineering Services, part of MITIE Group, has formed MITIE Science Projects, a national division dedicated to the provision of cleanrooms, laboratories and other forms of controlled environments. The division has been created as an amalgamation between MITIE Cleanrooms and MITIE Scientific Projects, and now offers a total service for specialist environments throughout the UK. Its offer includes design, construction, installation and maintenance of these high specification environments for a wide range of clients in the pharmaceutical, food processing, education, medical, microelectronics and defence sectors. MITIE Science Projects has devised a unique approach to its projects, involving clients at key stages to ensure client satisfaction and transparency of costs at each stage: a process it calls the "MPOWERFLOW". Bill Bordill, northern director, commented: "We have added new steps into a traditional process to allow our customers to have critical input. For example, after designing a project based on agreed objectives and concepts, we hold regular review meetings to ensure our designs best suit our client's needs. We look at areas like current good manufacturing practice, the constructability of the project and opportunities for value engineering." The company offers a packaged solution which includes building works, building services, air conditioning, clean utilities and cleanroom partitioning together with associated flooring and ceiling systems. Computer modelling is used to help calculate thermal and fluid dynamics.
