Nelson Laboratories bucks economic downturn and opens new US$14m building
Nelson Laboratories, a Salt Lake City, US-based provider of microbiology testing services for the pharmaceutical, medical device and dietary supplement industries, is to hire at least 75 new staff this year following the completion of a new US$14m, 4,500m² building.
The company estimates that it could take on as many as 300 new people over the next ten years to support its growing number of medical device testing laboratories, cleanrooms and associated operations and offices.
“During a time when a lot of companies were cutting back and laying people off, we were able to keep our employees and build this progressive new building to house our expansion,” said Jeffery Nelson, president and ceo of Nelson Laboratories.
During its 25-year history, Nelson has roughly doubled in size every five years and anticipates the growth trend to continue. With the new building, the company now has more than 10,000m² of office space and claims to be one of the largest laboratory facilities in the US.
