New cleanroom cabinets have PCR applications

Published: 14-Nov-2006

Cleaver Scientific, UK-based electrophoresis equipment suppliers, has launched uvCAB, a range of UV Sterilisation Cabinets designed for setting-up polymer chain reactions (PCR).

The cabinets are pitched as a low cost alternative to a cleanroom for use within a laboratory, and their UV lights can denature nucleic acids in 5 to 30 minutes, automatically turning off when the cabinet is opened to prevent user exposure.

Isotopes, such as 32P can be used in the units, which are available in two sizes; Maxi (660 x 560 x 420mm) and Mini (400 x 560 x 350mm).

Compatible safety trays with disposable linings can be purchased for either cabinet size.
