New glove guide aims to educate

Hand protection specialist Marigold Industrial has marked the launch of a chemical campaign by publishing a new glove guide specifically aimed at educating workers in the chemical industry about its chemical resistant products.

In addition to providing features and performance indicators for each of the gloves listed, the free "Hazardous Compounds" leaflet also summarises European standards for CE marking, chemical guidelines, and provides a 10-point checklist for healthy hands and details on inspecting gloves regularly for defects and deterioration. "The growing use and complexity of hazardous chemical substances in the workplace means we see the need for greater education in identifying and guarding against them as a matter of paramount concern," said Marigold Industrial marketing manager Donald Gillespie. "We want to heighten awareness within industry of the dangers of even seemingly innocuous chemicals, and to encourage workers and health and safety managers to seek professional advice in ensuring that the protection chosen is fully suited to the demands of the job and to the substances involved. "The production and launch of the leaflet is the opening shot in a campaign that we hope will concentrate minds on the threats to workers' hands posed by chemicals."
