One-day workshop will provide information on Further and Higher Education aspects of three BREEAM schemes

S-Lab and the UK's Building Research Establishment (BRE) are holding a free workshop on 15 December at the Innovation Park, Watford, UK.

The event will provide information and an opportunity to discuss the Further and Higher Education aspects of three BREEAM schemes:

  • The recently revised BREEAM UK New Construction 2014 scheme, which contains a number of FHE relevant features including updated laboratory, transport and daylighting credits.
  • The new BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fit-out scheme, which allows a flexible approach to assessment according to the scope of the refurbishment or fit-out project.
  • BREEAM In-Use, which has been developed to assist building managers, operators and owners in mitigating the operational impacts of existing buildings on the environment.

The workshop will also feature a session on using BREEAM effectively within universities, based on a presentation from the University of Bristol; a specialist breakout session on using BREEAM for new build and refurbishments in laboratories; and an optional tour of the BRE Innovation Park, which showcases innovative building technologies (in a residential context, but many are relevant to non-residential areas).

The workshop is applicable to environmental managers, project managers and others involved with BREEAM assessment.
