Bouygues appoints Stancold as cleanroom envelope contractor for vaccine facility

The Valneva project will require Stancold to undertake responsibility for all room envelopes and accompanying ancillaries

Stancold's Clean Room Envelope Specialist Team has been selected by Bouygues Energies & Services, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, as part of the design and build of a new production facility, based in Livingston, Scotland. The project is for speciality vaccine company, Valneva, and was announced in January

Stancold's specialist cleanroom team has been engaged to undertake the fit-out of a new multi-vaccine facility that will include the imminent production of the COVID-19 vaccine. The specification encompasses a range of EU GMP Grade A-D positive and negative pressure cleanrooms, CL3 laboratories and CNC pharmaceutical areas, where Stancold will undertake responsibility for all room envelopes and accompanying ancillaries.

Over 8,000 sqm of panel works must be completed within the fast-track programme, enabling vital vaccine production to commence as soon as possible. "To date, our colleagues have become an instrumental extension to Bouygues Energies & Services' own design and project management team, to independently recommend systems best suited to the application and pro-actively developing bespoke solutions for the project-specific details," stated Stancold.

The facility's design incorporates two mirrored manufacturing suites, separated by a central fire-rated corridor, and will require the integration of three cleanroom panel systems

It's this area of demonstrated expertise, coupled with openness and honesty to achieve the project's rapid timescales, that was unmatched by other tendering contractors.

The facility's design incorporates two mirrored manufacturing suites, separated by a central fire-rated corridor, and will require the integration of three cleanroom panel systems: Puracore's high-end specification, Kingspan's Versatile system and Eurobond Firemaster, meticulously colour-matched to ensure a perfect finish.

In order to facilitate such a fast-paced schedule, Stancold will have 3-4 installation teams working on site at any one time, alongside full-time site management and supervision overseeing all aspects of Stancold's work. Cleanroom validation contractors will follow closely behind our teams to complete the testing and authentication of each room, so maintaining good progress is key to ensure that the programme is delivered on time.
