The company offers guidance and protocols to ensure effective product application and disinfection processes

Two Ecolab products used in all industries across Europe have been proven effective against the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)

Independent testing has confirmed the efficacy of a suite of Ecolab hygiene and disinfectant products against the virus that causes COVID-19. Ecolab’s Skinman Soft Protect FF an alcohol-based hand rub, and surface disinfectant Sirafan Speed, were both proven effective against the virus that causes COVID-19 in testing coordinated through Dr Brill & Partner and done by Ruhr University Bochum, in Germany.

Hand hygiene and surface cleaning are critical in preventing the spread of viral infection. According to several scientific studies1,2, SARS-CoV-2 is estimated to survive several days on skin and on surfaces. Frequent cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and proper hand hygiene have been identified as critical measures to help stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2, according to the World Health Organization3.

“Cleaning hands and surfaces are one of the few weapons against the pandemic,” said Sam de Boo, President, Western Europe Ecolab. “We need people to understand and see the benefits of hygiene. With the range of Ecolab products that have proven effective against the COVID-19 virus, people will feel more confident and adopt hygiene behaviours quicker to help stop the pandemic and protect public health.”

Skinman Soft Protect FF is a liquid, alcohol-based hand rub with full virucidal efficacy in 30 seconds according to EN 14476. It’s effective against bacteria, yeasts and viruses. The formulation delivers skin protection through its moisturising properties.

Sirafan Speed is a ready-to-use, no-rinse surface disinfectant with a broad efficacy against bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses, Ecolab says. The combined action of its active ingredients provides disinfection on food contact-surfaces such as preparation tables, cutters and slicers.

Ecolab also supplies a wide range of other hand hygiene and surface disinfection products, which, like these two products, are compliant with the European Biocide Product Regulations, EN 14476, meaning they are effective against enveloped viruses, including coronaviruses.
