Mecart launches cleanroom design calculator

New online tool is used to determine the required airflow, the quantity of HEPA filters, and the number of low air returns in a cleanroom

Mecart, the Canadian cleanroom builder, has developed a design calculator. Available on the company website, the tool has been created to determine the required airflow, the quantity of HEPA filters, and the number of low air returns.

Commenting on the need of the calculator tool, the company explained: "Clients often come to us specifically requesting an 'ISO Class 7 cleanroom or an ISO Class 8 cleanroom'. What they often fail to realise is that the ISO Class does not define the layout of the cleanroom; it only defines the cleanliness level that needs to be met."

The tool is simple to use. For every classified room (ISO 8, ISO 7, ISO 6, ISO 5) in a cleanroom project (anteroom/gowning room, clean zone, etc.), complete a separate row in the table with:

  • Room length (ft)
  • Room width (ft)
  • Room height (ft)
  • Cleanroom class (ISO 8, ISO 7, ISO 6, ISO 5)
  • Process generating particles
  • Lighting level

Mecart's cleanroom design calculator is available online.
