NNE expands in Sweden and the US
NNE, a leading international provider of pharmaceutical facilities, consulting and engineering services, has acquired Uppsala-based life science consulting and cleanroom company Carmetec.
The acquisition represents a significant expansion of NNE's presence in Sweden, and will take the company up to 35 employees in Sweden within process engineering, cleanroom, automation, GMP and validation. Together, NNE and Carmetec are expected to generate a total turnover above SEK80m by year-end in Sweden. Carmetec will change its name to NNE Carmetec AB, but will keep its existing product palette focused on cleanroom services. The two founders of Carmetec, Hanno Lindroth and Owe Sandqvist, will continue as managing director and operations manager of the company respectively. "Carmetec and NNE are a perfect match," said Hans Ole Voigt, president of NNE. "Both companies are focused on the pharma and biotech industries, and Carmetec's excellent cleanroom services constitute an important expansion of NNE's existing local competences in Sweden." Carmetec managing director Hanno Lindroth added: "This is a great opportunity for Carmetec. NNE's skills in cleanroom design, HVAC and testing will complement Carmetec's strength in delivering turnkey cleanroom systems." NNE Sweden AB will remain focused on competences within project management, process engineering, automation, GMP and validation, and Leif Bo Ölgaard will continue as managing director. In a separate move, NNE has also acquired US company Contamination Control Technologies (CCT), situated in North Carolina. CCT provides independent testing, certification and consulting services to a wide variety of clients within the pharma and biotech industry concentrated in the eastern US, and will dramatically enhance the cleanroom service capabilities of NNE's North Carolina-based subsidiary NNE US. "CCT and NNE fit very well together. Both companies focus on bio-pharma industries, and as CCT represents highly skilled cleanroom competences, the acquisition will boost NNE's expansion in the US," said Bo Harvig, general manager of NNE US. NNE US will now employ more than 60 people, and the number is expected to increase to more than 70 by the end of 2005. Worldwide, NNE employs more than 1,200 people and has a local presence in Denmark, France and China.
