No compromises in the cheap seats
PBSC has launched updated versions of its furniture for changing rooms in high containment facilities in pharmaceutical or chemical plants.
Whereas stainless steel or phenolic resin have traditionally been the material of choice, PBSC has updated the design of its step-over benches, shoe racks and changing room lockers in white PVC. PVC is not only a lower cost alternative, it is also a far easier material to work with. Furthermore, its use does not reduce the performance properties of the furniture or the longevity, says the manufacturer, although in some higher usage areas stainless steel or phenolic resin tops can be attached if required.
The base of each unit is fitted within the facility before the floor is laid, thus ensuring a perfect seal once the vinyl floor is laid and “coved” up to the base. In effect, the base of the unit has become an integral part of the actual fabric of the facility. Once the base has been sealed into position, the top of the unit can then be clipped into place. If the unit is to be added into an existing facility the base is bolted flush onto the floor with a sealant, thus ensuring a contamination-free seal. The units have no visible fixings and are easy to clean.
