Norwood has been awarded a multi-million pound full turnkey project to design and construct production facilities for a repeat-business client, Orthoplastics.

Orthoplastics is a global leader in the development and manufacture of orthopaedic implants and components, helping surgeons transform lives around the world.

This is our first contract which we will deliver on a full turnkey basis, and we are very excited to work with our local and trusted supply chain partners to complete the facilities to the highest standards

Fulfilling the role of a Principal Contractor, the company's scope comprises architectural, electrical and mechanical fit-out of an existing single-storey unit located at the client’s manufacturing site in Bacup.

The project continues Orthoplastics’ expansion and futureproofing strategy with a flexible design that will enable ease of repurposing should the orthopaedic expert choose to remodel its facility in the future.

To create a new machine enclosure, manufacturing cleanrooms and an office, the Norwood team will utilise its versatile and fully demountable Mediline partition system, Norwood doors, as well as walk-on ceilings and floors. Having developed the fire strategy in-house, Norwood will also provide an 11-metre-high fire compartment wall, a fire-rated ‘triple glazed in’ windows and external fire door escapes.

Norwood added that it will work with architects, main contractors, subcontractors and end users, tailoring the level of services depending on individual requirements.
