PSC breaks ground on Fabs P4/P5
Taiwanese company Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation has held ground-breaking ceremonies for its fourth and fifth 12 inch fabs P4/P5.
The construction of these two fabs in the Hsinchu Science Park will entail a total investment of NWD250bn (€5.2bn), creating 3,600 jobs.
PSC chairman Dr Frank Huang said that ground breaking the fab demonstrated the company's continuous dedication to investment in Taiwan. In addition to the three 12 inch fabs already located in Hsinchu with a monthly capacity of 130,000 wafers, these two new fabs, each with a capacity of 60,000 wafers per month, will utilise sub-50nm process technology to produce DRAM and NAND Flash products.
The investment will not only consolidate PSC's number one position in Taiwan, but will make it one of the top three manufacturers in the memory industry.
