Roth & Rau to buy Ortner Cleanroom Logistic Systems
Roth & Rau of Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany, is to acquire Ortner Cleanroom Logistic Systems of Dresden for an undisclosed sum. Ortner specialises in the installation, maintenance and operations management of production facilities in the semiconductor and photovoltaics industries. Its particular strengths involve installing and maintaining automatic handling systems for crystalline and thin film production lines, as well as coordinating maintenance and analysing production processes with the aim of minimising downtime and reducing costs.
Ortner’s management team will continue to run the business. The company generated sales of €6.1m and was in profit in 2007/2008. Roth & Rau says the acquisition will enable it to significantly expand its service capacities, as well as boost its growing maintenance and spare parts business. “We are seeing increasing demand for services from our customers. Building up our competence and capacities in this area will enable us to extend our range of products and services as one of the leading suppliers of photovoltaics technology and equipment,” said Roth & Rau’s chief executive Dr Dietmar Roth.
