Shining a detecting light

UV Light Technology Ltd has launched a new UV blacklight inspection system for highlighting particulate microcontamination on surfaces which is invisible to the naked eye.

The hand lamp is a 250W unit producing high intensity UV-A light over an illumination area which is said to be larger than that produced by any other conventional UV lamps, thus providing "easy detection of particulate microcontamination, with minimum searching movements and without the need for blackout conditions". Light in weight and with its own stand and light shield, it incorporates an integral cooling system to ensure low casing temperature and optimal lamp operating conditions. Performance is due to the combination of the 250W metal halide UV lamp and black filter glass material, transparent to the UV-A light region between 325nm and 405nm. The company says the useful operating life of the lamp is approximately 500hr and an elapsed hour counter is fitted in the operating unit to facilitate lamp change scheduling.
