Stäubli connector is a breath of fresh air

Published: 11-Apr-2005

Stäubli, a specialist in quick release couplings, has introduced a new connector, for use with breathing air that improves operator safety. The AQR 06 meets all the requirements of the latest European Standard covering respiratory protective devices, BSEN 139, which states that, "the design of the couplings shall be such as to prevent unintentional interruption of the air supply". The AQR 06 is specifically designed for use in the supply of breathing air to personal protection equipment, masks, half suits and ventilated suits. Disconnection requires two distinct separate actions: the connector plug must be pushed towards the socket in a definite action, then the release button must be pressed. For extra safety a mechanical key on the AQR plug will allow connection only to the correct matching socket, preventing any chance of misconnection to another circuit. Identification of the circuit is also easy with the release button coloured a distinctive blue. Manufactured in stainless steel and designed for use at temperatures ranging from -10°C to +65°C, with a maximum working pressure of 10 bar, the AQR 06 also features long lasting leak tightness, ensured by the high build quality. Typical applications of the AQR 06 are in the nuclear and chemical industries, emergency services, and military and hazardous waste processing sectors. Enquiry card number: 106
