Triclosan comes under scrutiny
The Environment Agency is asking manufacturers of the antibacterial agent Triclosan to extend their research and look at whether the chemical might be having any effect on the environment and wildlife.
The agent is commonly used in a wide range of consumer products including soap, toothpaste, mouthwash and cosmetics for its effective, long-lasting protection against bacteria, mould and yeast. The EA has published a short paper on Triclosan, which can be found at the link below.
