Ultra-clean design at University Hospital Lewisham

Howorth Medical has been heavily involved in the orthopaedic and ITU/HDU equipment installation at University Hospital, Lewisham.

The company has installed ITU and HDU pendants from its new Extension range, Exflow canopies and pendants in 2 Ultra-Clean theatres, pendants in 2 conventional theatres, and pendants in 4 endoscopy rooms.

The new ultra-clean theatres are the first to feature Howorth's most recent addition to its Exflow ventilation range, the Exflow 3.2, which provides a large ultra-clean operating zone of 3.2x3.2m, meaning that the entire operating team and all instrument tables can be accommodated beneath the canopy. Despite the size of the canopy, noise levels remain up to 5 Dba below the level set by the HTM 2025.

Howorth says it had to design bespoke accessories to ensure their ITU/HDU pendant devices were able to accept the hospital's preferred ventilators, monitors and battery packs.
