UVC kit destroys flu viruses, bacteria and mould

Published: 7-May-2009

US firm Steril-Aire offers a UVC kit that may be used in HVAC applications to destroy micro-organisms. The easy-to-install kit delivers Steril-Aire's proven UVC technology to fan coil units, unit ventilator systems and indoor air handlers with coils up to 84in (213.4cm) with dual access.

Steril-Aire, based in Burbank, California, says the UVC kit delivers energy savings on retrofit installations, maintains efficiency on new units and improves indoor air quality and infection control in all systems installed in hospitals, classrooms, offices and other buildings.

A slim power supply and convenient mounting options allow installation flexibility close to the face of the coil for continuous coil cleaning and optimum air quality.

The multi-patented high output UVC Emitter has been independently tested to deliver up to six times the output of other ultraviolet devices under HVAC conditions, for the longest service life and most reliable germicidal control. It kills or inactivates airborne microbial contaminants to reduce the spread of infectious diseases and eliminate a major source of allergy. It also eliminates surface biofilm to keep coils and drain pans clean, saving money by reducing HVAC energy use and eliminating costly chemical cleanings.

The UVC Kit for Air Handlers includes a universal 120–230V power supply and three mounting options for easy installation. It comes with a choice of seven UVC Emitter lengths from 12–42in (30.5–106.7cm). www.steril-aire.com
