The company, which has achieved double-digit growth during each of the last four years, says it made this investment to meet increasing demand for rapid-turnaround, complex medical devices. The new facility is in operation 24/7.
“The demand for high-quality, injection-moulded single- and multi-use medical devices is increasing,” said Steven Arnold, president of Vision Technical Molding. “To meet this growing need, we invested in a significantly larger and more comprehensive state-of-the-art facility. Our customers will benefit from the latest technologies and value-added operations, as well as our enhanced ability to handle multi-component moulding and assembly. This project further underscores our commitment to the medical industry.”
The new ISO certified Class 8 cleanroom includes traditional and two-shot injection moulding and a customised material drying and conveying system. There are special transition (positive pressure) areas where cleanroom staff and non-gowned employees can meet, helping to optimise information flow and project management. Space is also dedicated to secondary operations such as pad printing, labelling, and ultrasonic welding. In total the cleanroom moulding area has been increased by 150%.
The company plans to create automated and manual work cells comprising adjacent clusters of equipment in order to streamline manufacturing. To accommodate future growth, an area of 465m2 is available for additional capacity and new technologies.
Vision Technical Molding moulds a variety of plastics including engineered materials, glass-filled resins, high-temperature resins and thermoplastic elastomers.
