Wicor invests in Swiss medical appliance production plant
Wicor Holding is continuing its planned expansion of injection moulding capacity at its Weidmann Plastics Technology business in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, with a special focus on cleanrooms for the manufacture of medical appliances.
The company has invested CHF15m in a new four-storey building, Weidmann’s third in Bad Ragaz. The additional 1,500m2 triple the existing cleanroom space, doubling production capacity to meet increased demand from customers for high-quality plastic components.
Wicor chief executive Franziska Tschudi said the investment would allow the company to keep pace with customer demand. “Cleanroom technology is becoming more and more important for our customers, this is why we tripled the production capacity in Bad Ragaz,” he said.
The company plans to add 30 new jobs at the site where 80 people are currently employed.
The Wicor Group produces and distributes sophisticated injection moulded plastics for medical technology customers and for automotive, sensor and water management technology, as well as high-voltage insulation materials and components for transformers.
