Extension in food safety contract wins PuriCore $8.6m
US-based life science company PuriCore in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has signed an $8.6m (€5.49m) agreement that extends its contract with one of the top five US supermarket retailers.
Under the terms of the agreement, the customer’s existing lease will be extended into the fourth quarter of 2011 – making it one of the largest Sterilox Food Safety customers.
Sterilox Food Safety, a division of PuriCore, provides systems that produce a natural food-safe sanitiser using only salt, water, and electricity.
Retailers use the Sterilox Solution in their crisping (rehydrating), misting, cut fruit, and seafood programmes to protect against cross contamination of infectious pathogens such as E.Coli and Salmonella.
PuriCore ceo Greg Bosch, said: “This agreement is the second major contract for our Sterilox Food Safety business this year following the $11m (€7m) order with another top five retailer announced in January. We continue to anticipate significant top line organic growth in 2008 that will enable us to achieve additional leverage of our operations and further expand into new markets.”
The Sterilox Solution is kills harmful pathogens and spoilage organisms such as E.coli, Salmonella, Norovirus, Psuedomonas, yeast, and molds.
PuriCore's technology is designed to limit the spread of infectious disease, including major public health threats of M. tuberculosis, MRSA, E.coli, Norovirus, Avian Influenza, HIV, Polio Virus, Helicobater pylori, and Legionella. The technology mimics the human body's production of the natural antimicrobial hypochlorous acid, which kills bacteria, viruses, and fungal spores.
