UK glass manufacturer Beatson Clark, which supplies glass packaging containers to the pharmaceutical, food and drink markets worldwide, has completely refurbished the air filtration for its clean area to European standard EU7, providing a filtration performance of 99.7% for particle sizes of 5µm.

The refurbishment, which cost around £100,000, come as part of Beatson Clark's ongoing £12m investment programme. The clean area facility is mainly used for pharmaceutical glass and is designed to prevent contamination. It is an internal building that is air filtered and kept at a positive pressure; staff working in the clean area must also wear special protective clothing. "The refurbishment will allow Beatson Clark to continue to provide high quality pharmaceutical glass solutions to its existing customers and at the same time put it in a better position to win new business," said John Wainwright, Beatson Clark's technical director.
