Glove line enhancements
Doyen Medipharm, a specialist supplier of packaging and converting machinery to the medical industry, has made significant improvements to its glove packaging line.
Known as the GPM, the lines operate by taking a web of material, which will become the sterile field for the gloves, forming the web, manually placing gloves into the web, and then closing and folding the sterile field. The walleted packs are then fed directly into the packaging machine for sterile pouching operation. The new units will now be supplied with servo drives to the knife and printer units. This upgrade has improved the dimensional accuracy of the sterile field area by as much as 3mm, and reduced the maintenance associated with this area by more than 50%. The life of the knife blades has also improved. The introduction of the servo drive to the printer means that the printer can now be operated independently for set up, and the print position is now electronically adjustable. Further changes have been made to the drive mechanisms and an adjustable feature has been added to the forming stations.
