M+W Zander, of Stuttgart, Germany, has been appointed as the Principle Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contractor for a new semiconductor manufacturing plant in the Middle-East featuring approximately 200,000 ft2 of cleanroom space.

The project, which has an order value of €700m and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2007, also includes the provision of technical facility equipment. M+W would not confirm the exact location of the work or who it is being carried out for, but Intel, the world's largest chip maker, has recently announced that work has begun in Kiryat Gat, Israel, on its seventh 300mm wafer fabrication facility, which will also feature 200,000 ft2 of cleanroom space. M+W specialises in providing total facility solutions covering corporate buildings, high-tech production plants and industrial complexes. It is particularly focused on cleanroom technology for a range of processing industries and for research institutes.
