Astell Scientific releases remote access, network connected autoclave

Published: 5-Jan-2018

Astell Scientific, sterilisation specialists since 1884, recently released its latest remote maintenance/diagnosis product option

The option (RDM101) is available on all new-build autoclaves featuring the latest version Astell colour touchscreen controller. The product option enables secure network connectivity, remote access and diagnostics on any of its compatible circular or square section autoclaves.

It allows the customer to directly connect the machine to their own network and also provides a fully secure connection between machine and Astell Scientific, for the benefit of software updates, data interrogation and end-user troubleshooting.

The system offers three different ways to connect securely to a network:

  1. Wi-Fi
  2. 3G/4G (mobile network requires a SIM card)
  3. ethernet cable (direct connection to network)

Configuration is a one-time affair at point of order, but also requires additional setup once the machine is delivered, easily completed by the end user. It is simple enough not to require any specific IT know-how.

Dave Thomas, spokesperson for Astell said: “The benefits of a ‘connected’ autoclave controller can both simplify workflow and process for the laboratory facility, and enable faster support to minimise down time should a question or issue arise. These benefits become even more valuable when considering our growing international customer base.”
