Kathabar Twin-Cel systems save energy and costs
Kathabar Dehumidification Systems’ Twin-Cel is a liquid desiccant building energy reduction system that uses energy previously lost to the environment.
Twin-Cel transfers both temperature and moisture between the airstream and allows for greater energy savings than the recovery of only sensible heat. It also reduces the energy required to condition outside air for a building.
By preconditioning the ventilation air entering a building with the available energy in the exhaust air leaving the building, the company says the Twin-Cel reduces heating/cooling and humidifying/dehumidifying energy usage and has potential to lower installed equipment costs.
Outside air and exhaust air are handled in separate units connected only with piping, assuring that no microbiological cross-contamination can occur. Twin-Cel systems are best suited to handling fairly large airflows – up to 108,000 CFM can be handled by a single factory-assembled Twin-Cel system.
