Environmental monitoring firm has opened a 80,000 sqft contamination-free manufacturing facility to serve as new headquarters

Particle Measuring Systems (PMS) has opened a manufacturing and contamination control innovation hub in Niwot, Colorado.

The company relocated from Boulder to Niwot after spending over three years building the new headquarters, which is much larger and more advanced than the previous facility.

“Our new headquarters is more than a building—it’s a strategic investment in our people, our technology, and our future,” said Andy Cowan, President of PMS. “With flexible project rooms, smart systems, and wellness-focused design, we’re creating an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive.”

The company provides contamination monitoring and control for industries such as pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries.

In 2024, the company moved with the automation trend in the monitoring sector and launched an automated microbial air sampling system with Pharma Integration. "BioCapt Single-Use AutoM Microbial Impactor" is used for sampling in constrained and robotic pharmaceutical manufacturing environments

PMS's new facility has over 80,000 sqft of space, with 20,000 sqft reserved for future growth and expansion.

It also features six project labs and a dozen collaborative workspaces. In total, the site offers 60% more space than the prior facility for advanced production and service capabilities.

“This facility was designed with innovation, scalability and operational excellence at its core,” said Matt Morton, VP of Operations. “From expanded production lines to integrated project labs, every element supports faster innovation cycles, stronger cross-functional collaboration, and the flexibility to grow with our customers’ evolving needs.”

The move from Boulder to Niwot will allow the company to meet increasing demand, drive operational efficiency and deliver innovative solutions.

Having more space will also allow the company to host more customer visits, pilot new technologies and collaborate with local partners and universities in the broader community and industry ecosystem.
