The controlled environment specialist has begun construction on data centre fit-out projects, marking the company’s entry into the rapidly growing digital infrastructure sector

Stancold has expanded into data centre fit-outs, applying its experience in technically complex construction to the growing digital infrastructure sector.

“Data centres require the same levels of precision and technical control that have guided our work for decades. Expanding into this sector is a logical step for the company,” said Andy Croxton, Managing Director at Stancold.

The company has over 70 years of experience designing and constructing controlled environments for critical industries.

This includes work in cleanrooms for pharmaceuticals, electronics, and battery research, where the company has delivered bespoke installations and integrated specialist machinery.

Recent projects include battery manufacturing facilities and nuclear-sector builds, providing a foundation for entering the data centre market.

In 2025, Stancold established a dedicated data centre team with the technical expertise and project management capacity to deliver large-scale fit-out projects.

The team integrates technical design knowledge with the company’s existing construction delivery processes.

Stancold has confirmed that its move into data centres will not affect its core operations.

The business will continue to provide controlled environments for food and beverage production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, and industrial warehouse developments.

Standcold’s CREST division projects

Stancold’s CREST cleanroom division has recently continued to develop its services within controlled environment markets.

In mid‑2025, CREST completed a bespoke cleanroom installation for a battery research organisation in Cornwall that is advancing sustainable lithium battery technology using recycled tin mining materials.

In addition to custom cleanroom projects, CREST has expanded its cleanroom service offering to include bi‑panel partitioning solutions, following training and use of a new bi‑panel system and completion of its first related cleanroom envelope build.
