Company honoured for its universal commitment to provide products and services to the healthcare industry that are environmentally responsible

Practice Greenhealth, a US nonprofit membership organisation founded on the principles of positive environmental stewardship and best practices by organisations in the healthcare community, has presented its 2013 Champion for Change Award to Synergy Health for its success in greening its customers’ Operating Rooms.

The Champion for Change Award is reserved for organisational partners supplying healthcare products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources. The winners of this award have achieved success in greening their own organisation and have also assisted others who are committed to improving their environmental performance.

‘The Champion for Change Award honours organisations that demonstrate leadership in reducing their environmental footprint,’ said Laura Wenger, Executive Director of Practice Greenhealth. ‘Synergy Health has extended its commitment beyond its internal practices to its clients and community to make even more of an impact.’

CEO and Founder of Synergy Health, Dr Richard Steeves said: ‘We have a universal commitment to provide products and services to the healthcare industry that are environmentally responsible. We have taken this oath to further to improve our internal operations, and are honoured to be recognised for it.’

Synergy Health acquired Tampa-based SRI/Surgical Express in 2012 and recently relocated its corporate headquarters for the Americas to Tampa. Synergy provides reusable gowns, drapes, towels and stainless instruments to hospitals and surgery centres nationwide, offering an environmentally attractive alternative to single use items.
