Zotefoam offers reduced insulation costs for clean environments

An advanced insulation system developed for stainless steel process lines in clean environments has been launched, which its manufacturers claim offers installation savings.

The RM 4910-approved T-Tubes comprise pipe insulation for a wide range of sizes and custom-moulded components to insulate joints and fittings.

The system is marketed by foam technologist Zotefoams and is claimed to offer savings in installation and long-term ownership costs.

Each component in the T-Tubes system is thermoformed from closed cell, cross-linked ZOTEK F PVDF foam. The closed cell nature of the foam inhibits moisture and vapour ingress while thermoforming provides a durable, cleanable, puncture resistant skin.

For these reasons, T-Tubes do not require the expensive to install, PVC jacketing that many of the competing open-cell or fibrous insulants need. Individual T-Tube components are fitted quickly and secured and sealed with an overlapping, polyethylene, self-adhesive tape, saving up to 50% on initial installation time.

The dust-free nature of the ZOTEK F foam means that T-Tubes can be cut to size without compromising clean environments, saving further installation time.

Because T-Tubes are resilient and the foam has a ‘memory’, the system is claimed to be less susceptible to damage during installation and subsequent use. If a jacketed system becomes punctured, moisture ingress can compromise the efficiency and hygiene integrity of the system and repairs can be extensive and costly.

Even if a T-Tubes system component becomes punctured, the closed cell nature of the ZOTEK foam itself will not allow moisture to enter and the insulation remains effective. As T-Tubes do not wick moisture, allow mould growth or deteriorate with use, they can be reused after equipment replacements or inspections, making them a truly economical proposition with low overall lifetime cost.
