The clean air specialist has acquired Spanish filtration and adsorbent manufacturer Bioconservación (Bion) to expand its molecular contamination control capabilities

Camfil has acquired Spanish air filtration and adsorbent specialist Bioconservación (Bion) in a move aimed at expanding the company’s molecular contamination control (MCC) capabilities across industrial and commercial markets.

The acquisition will see Bion integrated into Camfil Spain and the wider global MCC organisation, strengthening the group’s expertise in the control of molecular contaminants in critical environments, including sectors requiring advanced clean air and filtration technologies.

Headquartered in Spain, Bion provides air filtration solutions and adsorbents used in applications including gas removal, odour control, biogas purification and postharvest environments.

The company’s technologies are expected to complement Camfil’s existing MCC portfolio and support the development of additional technical solutions for customers operating in contamination-sensitive settings.

Camfil said Bion’s team will work alongside its local and international MCC specialists while continuing to support existing customers and ongoing product development activities.

“Bion is a strong strategic fit for Camfil’s Molecular Contamination Control business and strengthens our position in key markets,” said Guillaume Gallet, President of the MCC division at Camfil.

The Sweden-headquartered Camfil Group operates 30 manufacturing sites and six R&D centres globally, with operations spanning more than 35 countries.

Its clean air technologies are used across sectors including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology and industrial manufacturing.

The Bion acquisition is just one of Camfil’s acquisitions this year.

In February, Camfil acquired Milan-based F.C.R., which specialises in the design and manufacture of air filtration and air diffusion solutions.

The move allowed the company to expand its Italian footprint and enhance local expertise of air filtration and diffusion solutions.
