Teknipure wipers have ultrasonically sealed edge to prevent fibre loss

Teknipure’s high-strength, continuous filament double-knit and two-ply quilted polyester cleanroom wipers are manufactured in one facility and tested to ensure all quality parameters are met; these include basis weight, sorbency, liquid particle count, non-volatile residue levels, ionic extractable contribution, fibres and organics. Additionally, Teknipure conducts independent tests periodically to ensure data compliance and correlation. The Chandler, Arizona-based US firm has also developed a border seal technology for the wipers which uses pressure and heat to provide maximum fibre and particle retention.

Chris Heiland, sales director at Teknipure, says: "The process is unique in that we use pressure and heat to create a 4mm border, and then we add an ultrasonic seal to the edge to provide a double seal with no fibres at the edges, which addresses loose fibre problems other manufacturers have with border-sealed wipers."

The wipers are available in two sizes of 9x9in (23x23cm) and 12x12in (30x30cm) in dry and pre-saturated versions.

All packaging is vacuum purged with nitrogen and labelled with solvent safe, cleanroom-compatible labels. The company says the packaging materials are compatible with the most demanding cleanroom environments. Bags are available in standard cleanroom grade LDPE. A reusable pail is also available for the pre-saturated wipers. For static-sensitive applications, a static shielding bag with ziplock seal is available, which eliminates tribo-charging of the wiper and the need for ‘hot plastic’ packaging in ESD regulated production areas. All packaging, cleanroom laundering and converting are done in a Class 10 cleanroom.
